Goodbye, 2021; we had ups and downs, but I welcome 2022 with open arms.
Now 2021 didn't exactly start with a hefty bang apart From a few fireworks on New Year's Eve! but they were soon dampened out with the start of another lockdown which began on January 1st and put an end to face to face lessons until April 12th. But we did the best we could do with the tools that we had. We stuck together, adapted, reacted, and created more fantastic memories with our incredible Zoom lessons.
I think we can all agree that last year Christmas was not as magical as it could have been; however, it looks like we can now all celebrate this Christmas with our families. In saying that, I can’t express enough how my heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones to this devastating virus; I am genuinely thinking of the families who will be going through Christmas without cherished loved ones. Now, more than ever, I appreciate the value of good health.
I'm sure you will join me in thanking all those who continued working and volunteering throughout the pandemic despite the risks to themselves, be it postmen, waste collection, nurses, doctors, pharmacists, shop workers, the list goes on and on
Now on a more serious note! Within the last couple of days, some young students have approached me worried about the new COVID variant. They are concerned that Father Christmas will not be permitted to visit all of our homes on Christmas Eve. I would like you all to reassure your children that sir has made a call to the north pole, spoke to Father Christmas, and as expected, he is ready and raring to go ( as is Rudolph and the other reindeers). Father Christmas is very sensible and has said it would be a great idea if your little ones could leave some hand sanitiser by the cookies and milk, to help prevent the spread of the virus. Father Christmas has also said that if mums and dads continue to wear their masks in public and get their covid jabs, they will automatically go on the excellent list :)
Finally, I would like to thank once again every one of you who has supported me this last year, I have been blown away with all your love and support, and there would be no B-SMART martial arts without you
Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year :)
Shaun
